Meghan Faulkner joins Laura this week to talk about how and why she organized a big petition delivery to the Department of Justice asking them to investigate Donald Trump Jr. They also discuss how the consumer finance industry in North Carolina has bought itself some terrible legislation, and they take a look at the package of democracy reforms House Democrats introduced this week, and the importance of fighting for something, not just fighting against things.

With Donald Trump Jr. releasing some of his emails this week, Laura and Adam needed to talk about the campaign finance laws he has potentially broken. There's also health care legislation moving through the Senate, net neutrality in jeopardy, and big giveaways to donors in the name of infrastructure improvements. But it's not all bad news, there's some new and positive developments in Maryland to get excited about.

This week we're bringing you a deep dive into how an intersectional approach to money in politics brings new voices to the movement and helps those who are most harmed by big money politics take a stronger leadership role within the movement to stop it. Allie Boldt of Demos and Jasmine Gomez of Free Speech For People talk to Laura about their new framework for ensuring that historically marginalized people -- like people of color, LGBTQ, low income folks, people with disabilities, and more -- are centered in the movement for a stronger democracy. Allie and Jasmine have been grappling with these issues for a long time and recently put on some events to center LGBTQ voices in the money in politics fight. And they'll explain how and why you should host a similar event wherever you live.
